Abstract The present work aims to estimates the efficiency of single trait selection for grain yield/plant, days to heading and multiple traits selection using desired gain index (Pesek and Baker, 1970) in improving several agronomic traits. The genetic materials were240 families in the F4-generation derived from the segregating population (Giza 168 × Sids 4) (Triticum aestivum L.). Two separate experiments were carried out; one under normal irrigation and the other under drought stressed environments during the three successive seasons i.e., 2011/2012, 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 at Fac. Agric. Edu. Farm, Minia University, Egypt. Two cycles of pedigree selection were achieved under both environments. |
