Abstract

Nutritional anemia are the most common type of anemia in which the hemoglobin level is lower than normal as a result of nutritional deficiencies of one or more essential nutrient elements mainly iron. Less frequently vitamin B12 and folic acid (Danieis, Nicoll, Nosek, 2007). Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional disorder among all age groups in the world; it affects particularly old age and constitutes a major health issue in many developing countries (Penninx et al., 2006). Community health nurse can easily target old age and detect who are already anemic or predisposed to anemia. This can be done through assessing dietary habits and taking medical history. Community health nurse can help them to correct anemia on vulnerable group to reduce the risky behaviors by modifying the faulty eating habits and building self care responsibility and promoting health-improving behaviors during old age (Altun, 2008 ). The aim of this study to assessment the effectiveness of nursing intervention on dietary habits modification among anemic elderly. Quasi-experimental with pre- post test design was used in carrying out the study . The study was conducted at Shinoufa health care unit that follow Shebin- El Kom district ,Menoufia governerate. A convenient sample of 300 elderly was selected to achieve the aim of the study. They selected from the outpatient clinic of Shinoufa health care unit. The researcher selected cases who were Old people age above 60 years old and both sexes.
