Abstract This work studied the taxonomy and spatial distribution of the Egyptian Lixinae weevils, family Curculionidae, order Coleoptera. - A taxonomic review of 78 species within subfamily Lixinae including valid names, keys, synonyms, descriptions, distributions and phenology for each species is given. Three species Asproparthenis punctiventris (Germar), Menecleonus basigranatus Fairemaire and Lixus (Dilixellus) pulverulentus (Scopoli) are recorded from Egypt for the first time. Also, both species, Cleonus (Bothynoderes) punctiventris var. guyoti Hartmann and Asproparthenis guyoti Hartmann are newly synonymized to Asproparthenis punctiventris (Germar). In addition, four species Cosmogaster (Cosmogaster) lateralis Gyllenhal, Larinus (Phyllonomeus) sturnus Schaller, Lixus (Composolixus) albomarginatus Boheman and Lixus (Composolixus) repletus Smreczynsk are represented for the first time in the Egyptian Reference Collections. - A comprehensive atlas of Lixines morphology of 48 available species within 27 genera are provided including different plates of head (top and lateral views), pronotum, vestiture of elytra and abdominal sternites. In addition, 62 colored images beside two illustrations of habitus of the available species are included. - Faunal richness of 63 Lixin species in different Egyptian zones and (62 spp.) during months of year, zone specificity and occupation as well as endemism are provided.
