Abstract

This study was conducted on sixty day-old SASSO chicks, fourty eight were inoculated with CIAV strain at day-old of age via intramuscular route. Different ND vaccination programs were applied in different experiments.
The results of this study revealed that the CIAV experimentally infected chicks showed dullness; depression; diarrhea; ruffled feathers; low feed intake and impaired growth, fourteen days post infection with no recorded mortality; the necropsy findings of the sacrificed chicks showed paleness of breast muscles, icteric liver, atrophy of the thymus lobes, bone marrow pink in color and hemorrhage on and in the breast muscles; the body performance parameters (live mean body weight and weight gain) showed significant reduction of the CIAV-infected group (Gp IV) in comparison with the infected vaccinated groups (I, II and III) throughout the experiment. Moreover, the chickens of the control negative group (Gp V) showed significant increase in comparison with the other groups (I, II, III and IV) throughout the experiment.
Moreover, HI Ab response results showed significant reduction of the CIAV-infected live ND-vaccinated group (Gp I) compared with the CIAV-infected live and inactivated ND-vaccinated groups (I, II) especially at 14,28 and 35 days of age. There is a significant increase of (Gp II) at 28days of age compared with (Gp III).
