Abstract

The present work was carried out to study the pharmacokinetic of CF following a single oral dose in O. niloticus. Another goal was to study the effect of CF on some haematological and biochemical parameters as well as CF residues in fish muscles.
The present study was carried out at the wet lab. of Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research CLAR, Abbassa, Abou-Hammad, Sharkia, Egypt, during the year 2014.
• A total number of 150 apparently healthy o.niloticus with an average body weight 70 ±5 gm, which had not been previously exposed to antibiotics, were distributed randomly at a rate of 10 fish/100-L aquarium.
• Fish were fed a commercial fish diet 30% protein once daily at a rate of 3% of body weight, extra feed was withdrawn by aspiration.
• Feeding stopped two days prior to the experiment. Then, fish received the therapeutic dose of ciprofloxacin,10 mg/kg b.w., in feed.
I-Blood collection
A- Samples for HPLC:
-Fish were sampled at 15,30,60 minutes and2,4,6 and 12 h, and 1,2,4 and 10 days after ciprofloxacin administration.
- At each point three fishes were sampled and 1 ml blood was collected in heparinized tubes.
-Blood samples were centrifuged at 3000 r.p.m for 10 min and plasma samples were collected and stored at -20 ˚C until assayed.
B-Samples for haematological and biochemical studies.
