Abstract
Condensation of compounds 105a and 105h with some aldopentoses (Larabinose, D-ribose, D-xylose) and/or some aldohexoses namely: D-glucose, D-galactose and D-mannose in boiling methanol in the presence of’ glacial acetic acid as a catalyst yielded the corresponding polyhydroxy derivatives (1068-f and 107a-t). Acetylation of these products with acetic anhydride in anhydrous pyridine at room temperature afforded (108a-f and 109a-f), respectively.
