المستخلص

This work was conducted to clarify the possible therapeutic effect
of Carica papaya pulp and seeds as obtained from mature and unripe
fruits on the renopathic rats . a total number of Sprague Pawley male
albino rats (60 rats), (135-155g) each were used in this study . the rats
distributed on 10 groups (6 rats each) the first main group negative
control fed for (42 days) on the basal diet , while the other main group
inflicted firstly with gentamicin (100mg /1000g from body weight )
renopathy , then distributed on 8 group (6 rats) each. the first renopathic
group fed on the Basel diet for (42) days and considered as positive
control group while was fed on the Basel diet other renopathic groups fed
on either mature or unripe papaya pulp (5% or 10 %) , or seeds (5% & 10
% ) of either mature or ripe fruits the feed intake calculated each day
while body weight (and accordingly body weight gain BWG) calculated
each week , and urine collected at the end of the experiment, rats
sacrificed, serum obtained and biochemical analyses carried out .
histopathological investigation carried on the tissues of the results
arrived at world be sum analyzed in the following:
1. Body weight gain (BWG%) , feed intake, (FI) and fed efficiency
(FER) pronouncedly reduced due to renopathy, then raised when
inflicted rats papaya fed on papaya pulp and seeds.
2. Papaya seeds diet revealed higher improvement of BWG%, FI and
FER than pulp diet, provided that improvement was dose
dependent the more concentration of papaya seeds in diet the
more the level of BWG% and FER .
3. Best treatment seems to be that of the papaya seeds diet 5% &
10% showing highest BWG% and FER.
