Abstract

This thesis aims to evaluate the structural role of CeO2 on the structural and physical properties of CeO2.PbO.SiO2 glasses, the obtained results are compared with cerium free glasses. This can be done by applying a several techniques. The results showed that, the formation of clusters and separated phases which make the material to be sounded in the field of applications is could be due to added CeO2 to lead silicate glasses. The results showing that, as-prepared and/or heat-treated glass samples are the same, revealing the thermal stability of these glasses, which have high cure temperature (»200oC). from the density results, the linear change in the density and molar volume with composition, revealing the mixed matrices effect, and each property can be expressed as a resultant contribution of these components. The electrical conductivity results show the presence of two types of conduction mechanism ionic and polaronic.
