Abstract

Background:An in vitro Study of the Adhesion of Various New Root Canal Sealers to Dentin Treated with Different Irrigating Solutions Purpose:To evaluate the adhesion of different root canal sealers (MTA Fillapex® ,iRoot SP,EndoREZ, AH Plus) to human root dentine treated with variant types of irrigating solutions (Saline , EDTA , QMixTM 2in1) , using the push-out test. Materials and method:One hundred and twenty extracted single-rooted human teeth with complete formed apiceswere prepared using rotary instruments. The specimens were divided into three groups according to the final irrigation that was used: group 1, saline; group 2, 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA); group 3, QMix TM 2 in 1. Each group was subdivided in to four subgroups according to the sealer used for obturationAH Plus™, EndoREZ®, iRoot SP, MTA Fillapex®. The obturated roots were cut perpendicular to the long access to create 2-mm thick slices from the apical, middle, and coronal thirds and subjected to push-out test at a crosshead- speed of 0.5mm/min. Failure modes after push-out were examined under stereomicroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Results: AH Plus sealer recorded statistically significant (p < 0.05) highest mean value>iRoot SP sealer> MTA Fillapex sealer > Endo-REZ sealer. There are non-significant (p>0.05) difference between (Endo-REZ and MTA Fillapex) sealer. Q-mix final rinse recorded the highest mean value followed by Saline while EDTA recorded the lowest mean value. The difference between final rinse solutions was statistically non-significant (p > 0.05). The failure mode that AH plus and iRoot SP sealer showed predominantly cohesive and mixed failure. While the EndoREZ and MTA Fillapex sealer showed predominantly adhesive failure. Conclusion:AH Plus sealer had the highest mean push-out bond strength than iRoot SP, MTA Fillapex and EndoREZ. The MTA Fillapex and EndoREZ sealer showed the lowest mean push-out bond strength to root dentine. The QMix as a final rinse showed highest mean push out bond strength compared to EDTA and Saline, with no statistically significant difference. Recommendation: Long-term researches is still required to determine the effect of new irrigating solution on the bond strength of different adhesive sealers to dentine by using the push-out test.
