Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between presence and density of intratumoral FOXP3+Treg cells and the clinicopathological features of DLBCL cases including survival and response to therapy. This study was conducted on 70 specimens from Egyptian patients, obtained from the archive of Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Menoufia University during the period from January 2009 to December 2014. The studied cases included: 61 cases of DLBCL and 9 cases of reactive follicular hyperplasia. The age of the studied DLBCL cases ranged between 12 and 82 years with a median of 54 years and a mean ± SD of 53.66±14.16. Thirty one cases (50.8%) were males and 48.2% (30 cases) were females with 1.03:1 as male to female ratio. Nodal involvement constituted 91.8% (56/61) of cases. Thirty seven cases (66.1%) of nodal lymphoma presented with generalized lymphadenopathy. Most studied DLBCL cases were of stage III at time of presentation (27/61, 44.3%). Early stage group (stage I and II) represented by 14 cases (23%) and advanced stage group (stages III and IV) were 47 cases (77%). B symptoms were present in 20/61 (32.8%) cases. Splenic involvement by DLBCL was found in 19 out of 61 cases (31.1%), while bone marrow involvement was found in 32 cases (52.5%). Serum lactate dehydrogenase was elevated above its normal level (500IU/L) in 26 out of 61 DLBCL cases (42.6%). |
