Abstract

This study was conducted in 2045 fish, which represented in 1090 O. niloticus, 657 C. gariepinus and 298 mullet species. Fish were obtained a live from Sahl El-Housinia private fish farm, El- Abbassa fish farm in Sharkia governorate and private fish farms at Alexandria and Damietta governorate for isolation and identification of the etiological agents of red mouth disease by using Vitek 2 system, API 20 kits and polymerase chain reaction, during the different seasons of the year. The prevalence, clinical signs and postmortem lesions were recorded. Five hundred and seventy apparently healthy O. niloticus were used for the pathogenicity test of the bacterial isolates isolated from naturally infected fishes while 480 O. niloticus were used to determine the effect of different degrees of temperature and salinity on the virulence of P. mirabilis and S. paucimobilis isolates. Three hundred and thirty fish were used in antibiotic treatment trials of C. freundii, A. sobria, P. mirabilis, B. cepacia and S. paucimobilis by using ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, and florfenicol; according to the results of antibiotic sensitivity test. The level of serum biochemical parameters including AST, ALT and Creatinine, in addition to the histopathological findings of liver, kidney and intestine were used for evaluation of the results of treatment trials.
