Abstract The study was conduct to investigate the incidence and causes of maternal morbidity and mortality among women admitted to intensive care units. The study carried out at ain shams university maternity hospital.the study design was adescrptive study. The subject involved 100 mothers admitted to intensive care during pregnancy or after delivery during period of study and agree to participate in the study, the researcher used simple randum sample. Tool used for data collection involve a structured Interview questionnaire sheet, to collect social, medical and obstetric data. Results the main reason of ICU.admission were heamorrhage, preeclampsia, chronic hypertension and heart disease, slightly more than half of sample admitted before labour. The study concludes that heamorrhage and preeclampsia were the most common indication of ICU admission. |
