Abstract

This essay explains how to recognize the crisis very early not only to treat it but to prevent its occurrence. Preventing harm to the patient is the priority during a crisis. After a major incident, and especially when a patient has been harmed, there is a number of matters to be addressed: the ongoing care of the patient; documentation of the incident; investigation of the root causes; completion of reports; interviews with the patient after recovery or relatives if death occurs.
This essay classify crises into :
Airway crises like airway obstruction and laryngospasm .
Respiratory crises like bronchospasm and pulmonary edema.
Cardiovascular crises like arrhythmias ,arrest and shock.
Crisis management always explores the psychological, interpersonal and environmental factors which influence patient care particularly in un expected conditions which involve life threatening and time pressure.
We learned how to prepare and plan for management and working in protocols and coincieding with algorithms. This team work should do in harmony.
In a crisis, events may unfold at a rate which exceeds our capacity to keep pace. Several studies have shown that not all crises are managed well, even by experienced anesthesiologists.
It is best, when all is not going well or in crisis situations, to carry out pre-determined sequences of actions which have been shown to be safe and to cater for rare, dangerous problems as well as for more common, mundane ones.
Good monitoring and how fast we work after diagnosis of the problem can improve the outcome.
Management will be completed after we told the patient about the crisis if the patient is alive or to relatives if death occur and learn how to apologize in case of human errors.
