Abstract

This thesis discusses the most important topic in the application of solar energy which is
electricity generation using solar cells systems and connected to the public electricity
network at the lowest possible cost, This thesis focuses on detailed study of solar power
generation using different systems to track the solar and compare them fixed system by
building technical models and economic to calculate the amount of energy produced from
each system, and the results showed that the use of two axis automatic tracking solar
system is the best in the production of energy from the rest of the other systems as the
results also showed that the use of the fixed system is the best economically.
Chapter One: This chapter discusses short introduction about energy, some types of
renewable energy sources, use of solar energy to solve the energy problem, measuring the
intensity of solar radiation on earth surface and their related angles.
Chapter Two: This chapter discusses short introduction about solar cells, the different
materials used in the manufacture of solar cells, solar energy systems and some of its
applications.
Chapter Three: This chapter discusses short introduction about various ways for
engineering solar tracking systems such as: Manual Tracking, Automatic Tracking types
(One Axis Automatic Tracking and Two Axis Automatic Tracking), their related angles, their
advantages and disadvantages.
Chapter Four: This chapter shows different designs, simulations and results for different
solar tracking systems compared to fixed solar cell system.
Chapter Five: This chapter discusses economic analysis and its applications on the solar
tracking systems compared to photovoltaic fixed system and calculate the cost of production
of one kilowatt hour of every system.
Chapter Six: This chapter shows conclusion and future work for this research point.
Last Part: It shows appendix and references for this thesis.
