Abstract This research was conducted on forty eight adult male albino rats divided into 4 equal groups (12 rats in each). The first group was given 1% tween 80 (0.5ml/rat) for 14 consecutive days and left as a control. The second group was administered linezolid in 1% tween 80 alone 0.5 ml/rat (100 mg/kg bwt.) orally, The third group was administered linezolid (100 mg/kg bwt.) + Phoenix dactylifera (1000mg/kg bwt.) in the same doses for the same period. The fourth group was given Phoenix dactylifera alone in a dose of (1000mg/kg bwt.) daily for the same period. At the first, seventh, and fourteenth day post drug administration. Four rats from each group were sacrificed for collection of two blood samples from their neck blood vessels. First sample was collected in centrifuge tube to obtain clear serum for biochemical studies. Second sample was collected in tube containing EDTA for hematological study. After blood collection, rats were dissected to obtain samples from brain, eyes, thyroid glands, heart, liver, kidneys, and femur bones for histopathological studies. Collected organs were kept in clean containers containing 10% neutral formalin to be ready for histopathological examination. |
