Abstract The research aims to introduce the problem of Waste Water disposal in the Ocean and Sea from the point of view of helping the community to develop and progress. The study area was chosen to be Adabya Port near Suez Gulf in Egypt where a wastewater treatment plant discharges in the gulf with a rate of 55,000 m3/d which causes pollution near shore (i.e. near recreational areas). An analytical approach and a near field dilution hydraulic model were applied. Data was assembled (i.e. salinity, temperature and density profiles, as well as the Current velocity data at different levels of the water column). Many scenarios were propped and simulated to detect the effective location for establishing the outfall including its diffuser. The governing factors were stratification and dilution. It was realized that dilution should not be less than 100 to guarantee the entrapment of discharged waste traces so as not to reach the water surface. |
