Abstract Present work reports the preparation of bright blue CoAl2O4 spinel particles by low temperature combustion method using urea as fuel in this paper. The characterization of the resulting powder was done using differential thermal analysis (DTA), x-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). Pure CoAl2O4 spinel particles were prepared by low temperature combustion method which is also very simple than other techniques such as solid state reaction, ceramic methods and so on. from the particle size analysis, the average particle sizes were in the range 10–30 nm at 800˚C and 50-70 nm at 1000˚C. The SEM photographs showed distribution of small particles and large agglomerates. These agglomerates consist of very fine particles that are cold welded together. |
