Abstract The worldwide applications of quinoline derivatives as antimalarials, agents for treatment of amoebic dysentery, photographic film sensitizers, agents having strong activity against Rheumatoid arthritis, potent anti-inl1ammatory, antitumer and antibacterial agents prompted the authors to construct new quinolines of anticipated biological activity and study their chemical and biological behaviours. Further intensive studies are still required to synthesise new potent antimalarials and antimicrobial quinoline derivatives due to the failure of the available Schizonticidal and Sprontocidal antimalarials against resistant-strains of malaria parasites, namely; the Falciparum strain. Pyranoquinolines, 111 particular, eXhibited a significant inhibitory effect on histamine, as well as, anti allergic influence and ability for suppressing homologous passtve cutaneous• anaphylaxis (PCA), as well as heterologous PCA. This stimulated the authors to synthesise new pyranoquinoline derivatives condensed with other heterocyclic systems and study their expected biological activity. |
