Abstract

Egypt’s total agricultural crop production has increased by more than 20% during the past decade. In the same time, the population rate has increased –at a higher percentage than the increase of crop production. Citrus, makes up-to 50% of the total fruit production, the fruit cultivated area has expanded over the last three decades to reach about 200 thousand feddans. In Egypt, citrus, makes up-to 50% of the total fruit production, its cultivated area has expanded over the last three decades to reach about 200000 feddans
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture (2000) the recommended limits of high volume spraying for fruit trees should ranges between 1000-4000 liters/fed. No record was given to less volume rates.
The tetranychid mites considered as one of the important mite pests attacking citrus trees
Comparison tests were carried out between Conventional Motor Sprayer and knapsack Sprayer in order to reduce the citrus brown mite, E orientalis(Klein) on citrus trees under field conditions in a privat farm in Seminude, Gharbeya Governorate, The present work was carried out to evaluate the quality of spray produced by Conventional Motor Sprayer (Genar) and Knapsack Motor Sprayer (Armitsu) using two rates of application 1200.00 L/Fed and 53.0 L/Fed , respectively. Fenpyroximate 5%SC (ortus) acaricide was used for controlling mites E. orientalis (klein) on sweat orange trees in Gharbeya Governorate during season 2008.
Data showed that, about 35% of spraying volume washed the leaves of orange trees by using a high volume technique .The percentage average of loss on ground was 37% & 9 % with conventional motor sprayer (Genar) and Knapsack motor sprayer(Armitsu), respectively. No significant difference between the droplet coverage at different directions in case of using high volume technique, but a highly significant difference was found between conventional motor sprayer (Genar) and knapsack motor sprayer(Armitsu) in the spray coverage.
