Abstract

The results of the present study showed that Moringa Peregrina fixed oil and metformin have anti-obesity, anti-hyperlipidemia and antioxidant actions in rats. Actually, Moringa Peregrina fixed oil and metformin were significantly decreased in body weight and the levels of insulin, glucose, triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL-C and Malonadialdehyde (MDA) and increased in HDL-C, glutathione (GSH) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) when compared to the high fat diet (HFD) control rats. The results clearly suggest that moringa peregrina fixed oil (381 and 190 mg/kg.b.w.) containing phenolic compounds produced a higher anti-obesity, anti-hyperlipidemia and antioxidant activities on experimental obese rats. The data recommended that, moringa peregrina fixed oil may be beneficial in treatment of obesity, hyperlipidemia and oxidative stress after further study.
