Abstract
Two experiments were conducted in Sakha Agricultural Research Station, Agricultural Research Center, Egypt, during the two growing seasons I 995/96 and I 996/ 97 to study the inter and inter specific competition among sugar beat and faba bean plants in relation to yield and microclimate. Every experiment included I 8 treatments which were the combination of three ridges widths, i.e. 30, 45 and 60 em. between ridges and four patterns oflntercropping i.e. (I:I), (1:2), (2: I) and (2:2) (sugar beat: faba bean), as well as, pure stand of both crops under each ridge width. The following is a summary of results.
