Abstract

he current cross-sectional prospective observational study address the accuracy of 5D-US compared to 2D-US in prediction of fetal weight in pregnant women with singleton fetuses in the third trimester (37 - 41 weeks) who were admitted to the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, fetal medicine unit, Ain Shams University hospital, Cairo, Egypt for elective delivery either by Lower segment cesarean section or induction of labor, from the period of May 2015 till November 2015.
Five Dimensional as well as Two Dimensional ultrasound fetal biometry was done to a total of 50 pregnant women who were recruited in the study and all of the patients delivered within 48 hours of ultrasound examination.
The present study compared the accuracy of Five-Dimensional to Two-Dimensional ultrasound in prediction of fetal weight using Hadlock’s IV formula (BPD, HC, FL, and AC).
