Abstract

This experiment was conducted during two seasons 2009, 2010 on hybrid of green beans var. ALHAMA to study the effect of two types of packaging materials (polyethylene, polypropylene) and modified atmosphere (by injecting gas into the package or caused from pods itself) on the quality attributes of green beans pods during refrigerated storage the degree 4, 6, 8 o C and relative humidity of 95% for a period of 21 days.
The results can be summarized obtained as following:
I. phenotypic quality attributes:
1-Decay:
Led the mobilization of the green beans pods in packages of polyethylene film to show the best results during the period of storage at the temperature of 6 degrees Celsius and controlled atmosphere 5% O2 +15% CO2 from where pods decay comparing with control and other treatments.
General Appearance: -2
Led the mobilization of the green beans pods in packages of polyethylene film to show the best results during the period of storage at the temperature of tmosphere 5% O2 +15% CO2 from in 6 degrees Celsius and controlled aterms of appearance and the general appearance of the green beans pods comparing with control and other treatments.
Shelf life: –3 Led the mobilization of the green beans pods in packages of polyethylene e best results during the period of storage at the temperature of film to show th6 degrees Celsius and controlled atmosphere 5% O2 +15% CO2 from where the length of the storage period for the green beans pods comparing with control and other treatments. s:Weight los -4 Led the mobilization of the green beans pods in packages of polyethylene film to show the best results during the period of storage at the temperature of 6 degrees Celsius and controlled atmosphere 5% O2 +15% CO2 from where een beans pods comparing with control and other the loss in weight of the gr treatments. II. Chemical components:
Percentage of fibers: -1 Control treatment given the highest value of fiber percentage during the +15% storage period under the conditions of the modified atmosphere 5O2% CO2 with temperature 6 degrees Celsius while the lowest percentage of fibers in the pods stored in polyethylene packages.2 The pods content of total amount of chlorophyll were having the lowest value control treatment.in

Conclusion:
Possible through transactions conducted in two seasons to achieve good results through prolong shelf life for centuries green beans during storage while retaining the nutritional value and the external appearance of fresh and was the best transactions used by the results obtained were polyethylene best material filling and under air conditions antenna rate was% O2 + 15% CO25 best rates for Atmospheres rate and temperature of 6 ° C in terms of temperatures.
