Abstract Stone fruits play an important role in the national economy and agricultural production for high nutritional value and various ways of utilization. this stUdy was aimed to investigate smile viruses attack stone fruits especially plum pox virus (sharka). Survey of viral diseases of stone fruit in Egypt revealed that stone fruit viruses were the most prevalent as compared with others. Seven viruses were detected in Egypt plum pox virus (sharka) (PPV), Prune dwarf virus (PDV), prunus necrotic ring spot virus (PNRSV), apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV), arabis mosaic virus (AMV), tomato ring spot virus (ToRSV) and peach rosette mosaic virus (PeRMV). The present work was designed to build on the details of three isolates of PPV, including isolation from stone fruits trees and differentiate between the isolates, the role of seeds in the epidemiology and to find out new insects could be able to transmit the virus isolates. The experiments concerning integrated PPV-control measurements are also studied such as susceptibility of apricot, peach and plum cultivars and varietal resistant to the rate of spread, cross protection between isolates, the effect of mineral oil sprays and elimination by tissue culture combined with heat and modified nutierent media. |
