Abstract This work studied the effect of daily oral dose administration of cyanox in rat on brain and Erythrocytes acetyl cholinesterase, plasma protein, creatinine and inorganic phosphorus and also on plasma triiodothyronine and thyroxine. The experiments were carried out over a period of 28 days. - For this purpose, three groups of rats were used. The first one was given 1/50 LD50 of cyanox as a low dose level. The second one was given 1/20 LD50 of cyanox as a high dose level and the third one served as a control. Tire results revealed the (offowings: - Administration of cyanox at the lower dose, inhibited rat brain and erythrocytes acetylcholinesterase more than the higher dose did. - The plasma total protein and its fractions decreased, compared to control.. - Amino transferases activities increased in plasma. - Alkaline phosphatase enzyme was elevated in plasma in a dose-related manner. - Plasma creatinine level showed a significant decrease at most time intervals, at both dose levels. - The plasma inorganic phosphate level was elevated significantly at the two investigated doses. - Plasma triiodothyronine hormone increased significantly, while plasma thyroxine hormone decreased, which means that, thyroid hormones were inhibited due to the toxic effect of cyanox. |
