Abstract This work was carried out on thirty rabbits; twenty-five females and five males for studying the effect of vitamin A on fetal development after injection of rabbit does at specific periods of gestational stage. Twenty five females were divided into five main equal groups, first group (control, was not injected), second group (injected with 100 mg / kg b.wt/ day from 3rd to 6th days), third group (was injected with the same dose from 7th to 10th days), fourth group (was injected with the same dose from 11th to 14th days) and fifth group (was injected with the same dose from 15th to 18th days). The ultrasound examination was carried out on ten rabbit pregnant does (two from each group) at different days of gestation then taken several anatomical morphometric measurements. Placental size was difficult to assess as it was not easy to determine a best angle to visualize this two-lobed placenta before 23rd day, and therefore, the available placental and uterine wall diameter (CUPT) obtained on the screen at 23rd day. There was a linear relationship between vesicle length and gestational age at 9th and 13th days. Similarly, there was a linear relationship between head length and width with gestational age at 15th, 19th and 23rd days. Also, there was a linear relationship between body length (without the head) and gestational periods of 19th, 23rd, 27th and 29th days. |
