Abstract Metabolic syndrome is a disorder of energy utilization and storage, diagnosed by a co-occurrence of three out of five of the following medical conditions: abdominal (central) obesity, elevated blood pressure, elevated fasting plasma glucose, high serum triglycerides, and low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. Metabolic syndrome increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Feeding rats with high fructose diet affects glucose, lipid metabolism and uric acid which result in a cluster of metabolic abnormalities such as hyperinsulinemia, hyperlipidemia and hyperuriecmia. The main target of this study was to investigate the effect of the excessive Fructose intake on metabolic syndrome especially on uric acid and type 2diabetes. To fulfill the goals of this target, 30 adult male rats were allocated into 3 groups. First group as negative control fed standard diet without fructose. group two fed 30% diet as fructose and group three fed 60% diet as fructose for the whole period of experiment (6 weeks) The results are divided into items; biological (Feed intake, body weight gain and feed efficiency ratio); biochemical analysis (Glucose, insulin, insulin resistance, lipid profile, and liver and kidney functions) and histological examination. |
