Abstract

Childhood cancer is considering the main killer of Egyptian children. It represents 10, 5 percent of the child population, compared to one percent in the USA. in children younger than 15 years in which diagnosis and treatment are more difficult. Parents are actively involved in the direct care of their ill child receiving cancer treatment by providing and monitoring therapy and by managing symptoms related to the therapy or to the disease itself.
Childhood cancer is related to a high morbidity rate, leading to an increased frequency of hospital admissions, and poor scholastic performance in addition to the physical, psychological, and social impact.Childhood cancer morbidity and mortality are still unacceptably high due to lack of knowledge, perception, and skills of parents who provide care for their children. Management of cancer and it treatment require open communication and cooperation between child, family and all health team who provide care for this child, so, the child can lead a relatively normal life.
