Abstract The rate of preterm birth is increasing worldwide and the associated neonatal morbidity. Preterm birth is defined as birth before 37 completed weeks of gestation, and can be further defined according to severity: very preterm births are those before 34 weeks’ gestation and extremely preterm births occur before 27 weeks. |
