Abstract Stryker decompressor is one of minimally invasive technique for discectomy used in subligamental disc bulge in wide canal with unilateral sciatica via decrease intra-discal pressure. Our study was conducted over 20 patient in Alexandria main University Hospital over one year. There was statistical significant differences between the different periods, VAS values at 6 and 12 months statistically lower than preoperative. Functional improvement was found in most of studied patients 13(65%). Patient satisfaction was found in most of the studied patients 13 (65%). As regard complication, mild infection (discitis) were found in 2 cases (10%) and recurrence in 2 cases (10%). This method has advantage of using local anathesia, short hospital stay, effective management if selection criteria included. Our results summarized that: - There were statistical significant differences between the different periods, VAS values at 6 and 12 months statistically lower than preoperative. - Function improvement was found in most of the studied patients 13 (65.0%). Patients satisfaction was found in most of the studied patients 13(65.0%) - With statistical significant difference, younger patients were satisfied than elder patients. - There were no statistical significant differences between sex regarding satisfaction. - There were statistically significant differences between body mass index and patient’s satisfaction, over weight and obese patients were not satisfied than normal weight patients. - There were no statistical significant differences between site and patients satisfaction. - Mild infection were found in 2 (10.0%) and recurrence in 2 (10.0%) of the studied patients. - Amount of disc removed ranged between 0.3-0.7 with the mean of 0.510.11 mm. - Duration of APLD ranged between 3.0-10.0 with the mean of 5.232.11 min. |
