Abstract:A lot of research work was focusing on the molecules of thermo-metabolic state in thyroid disorders as Irisin hormone which secreted by myocytes and influence body metabolism and thermogenesis by converting white adipose to brown adipose tissue. Objectives: measured Irisin hormone level in situation of different thyroid diseases and correlate its level with creatine kinase a serum marker of muscle damage. Study design: The study was conducted on 90 subjects who were divided into three groups: 30 hyperthyroid patients, 30 hypothyroid patients, 30 normal persons. All subjects of the study were submitted to full medical history, through medical examination (Weight, Height and BMI) and measurement of fasting serum Irisin, TSH, Free T3, Free T4, CK and LDH. Results: Irisin is increased in hyperthyroid group in compared to hypothyroid and control group. Creatine kinase is increased in hypothyroid group in compared to hyperthyroid and control group. Hyperthyroid group had high Irisin level, low CK level and high LDH level. Hypothyroid group had low Irisin level, high CK level and high LDH level. Conclusions: Obtained results suggest the influence of thermo-metabolic state on Irisin concentration. Lower Irisin hormone level was found in patients with hypothyroidism might be explained with muscles destruction demonstrating with high CK levels, however the higher level of Irisin in hyperthyroidism might explained by hypermetabolic state.
