Abstract In the present study, nine hundreds and ten cattles(910) from various farms that located at Daqahlia province, Egypt, were examined for the pathology caused by the local FMD and LSD virus isolates During infection outbreaks during the period from March 2014 to February 2016. and six hundreds and seventy (670) seemed to be infected with FMD(73.3%). The mortality rate reached to(36.8%) .Whereas two hundreds and forty (240) appeared infected with LSD (26.3%) .The mortality rate reached to (18.7%). The main macroscopic finding ,diseased calves aging below six month old, showed 100% mortality, and usually showed signs of sudden death with no apparent gross lesions such as the vesicle formation on the mouth and the feet. However, the majority of them showed signs of myocardial necrosis. This characteristic lesion has been typically observed in FMD virus infection in young calves . Adult cattles showed oral vesicles and erosions surrounded by hyperemic zone. Similar lesions were also observed at the coronary bands, skin of the interdigital space, and the udder. We observed other less common lesions such as hemorrhage and ulceration of the rumen and abomasum, necrosis and congestion of the gastrointestinal tract, atrophied pancreas, inactive ovaries with cysts, edematous and thickened of Fallopian tube beside shrunken uterus and contained retained secretion .External gentilia of a few adult cattles showed vesicles or erosive mucosae. |
