Abstract

SUMMARY
ne of the major problems that facing population is exposure to
extreme environmental temperature that is related to seasonal
variation.
In the past three decades the temperature on the earth surface has
been increased due to global warming phenomena.
One of the most causes of global warming is green house gas
emission due to different human activities.
Serious health problems are related to climatic change whether
directly or indirectly.
Extreme environmental temperature has an effect on human health
by different mechanisms as exposure to extreme hot weather ma cause
serious health problems (e.g. heat stroke). On the other hand extreme cold
can lead to serious cardiovascular symptoms.
Most vulnerable population to the negative effect of climatic
change are women than men, elders than adults and people with illness.
Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death in the world.
Many cardiovascular responses are experienced by exposure to
extreme environmental temperature.
There is a global needs to study the effect of environmental
temperature on human health and especially on the cardiovascular system.
This is a community based study aimed to detect the influence of
the surrounding environmental temperature on cardiac function.

Summary
77
Thirty of apparent healthy individuals submitted for longitudinal
study along winter and Summer seasons.
All subjects undergo specified inclusion and exclusion criteria.
All subjects will be exposed to the following investigations at one
of the coldest day in Winter (below 14 º C) and one the hottest day in
Summer (above 34 º C):
- Measurement of arterial blood pressure.
- Local examination of heart.
- Recording electrocardiograph (ECG).
Results of the present study shows significant elevation in the
blood pressure , associated with cold weather (percentage increase in
MAP was 6.98% ,percentage increase in the systolic BP was 8.93% and
percentage increase in diastolic BP was 6.23% ), on the other hand there
were no significant change in the heart rate or other ECG findings.
from our results we can conclude that in cold weather is
associated with slight increase in the arterial blood pressure (systole and
diastole) of apparently healthy individuals. And no significant change in
the ECG findings
