Abstract Oncology Nurses play an important role in reducing numbers of individuals diagnosed with cancer through presenting health education to individuals. Thus, oncology nursing need a determined role. Job description can provide foundation for performance standards for each position. Thus, the present study aims to design a job description for staff nurses working in Clinical Oncology Care Unit at Damietta oncology center. Exploratory study was utilized with two different groups first group (30) nurses and second group includes experts group Medical ursing managers, Teaching staff of Nursing Administration and Medical Surgical Nursing with a total number 30 experts. Data were collected by three structured questionnaires and observation. After collected data and design preliminary job description format was checked with Opinionnaire sheet by experts to assess face and content validity .Results revealed that most nurses agreed on duties and responsibilities and implementing them but needed them to be document to save nurse rights and revised periodically to keep up - to - date with the current changes in medical technology. Therefore, it is recommended that,job description for clinical oncology care nurse must be available, and acknowledged by the health care providers to avoid role ambiguity. In addition to the designed job description, it can be used in the hospital for a 2-3 years trial period, and then re-evaluated for generalized application. |
