Abstract

The present study was carried out at MehaltMousaAnimal Production Research Institute, AgriculturalResearchCenter, Ministry of Agriculture in Co-operation with Department of Animal Production, Faculty of Agriculture, KafrelsheikhUniversity.
5-1-1-Experimental animals
Sixteen lactating buffaloes at 2-4 weeks of lactation with average body weight of 500 kg and between 2nd and 5thlactation season were divided into two similar groups based on weight, milk yield and lactation season (eight in each). Buffaloes were free from any diseases with normal health appearance and were housed as groups under open sheds.
5-1-2-Experimental rations
Buffaloes in the first group (G1) were fed ration consisted of concentrate feed mixture, corn silage, rice straw and berssem hay in summer season (May, June and July). While the buffaloes in the other group were fed ration consisted of concentrate feed mixture, corn silage, green berssem and rice straw in the winter season (January, February and March).
