Abstract Pelvic Congestion Syndrome is considered one of the major causes of chronic Pelvic Pain. The pathogenesis of it is not clear yet, however, the main pathology present is the dilatation and incompetence of pelvic veins. Multiple imaging modalities can detect incompetence, nevertheless, the gold standard is the minimally invasive selective catheter venography. Treatment options include medical, surgical and endovascular embolization. The Endovascular embolization is considered currently the most common modality of treatment for Pelvic Congestion Syndrome with many reports suggesting marked improvement following it. Despite the promising results of that procedure, randomized clinical trials are needed to be developed to standardize the imaging diagnostic criteria, method of intervention and tools of assessment of outcomes. |
