Abstract Introduction: Epidemiology of polytrauma ,different patterns of injuries ,management strategies of polytrauma patients. The aim of work: The present study aimed to determine the patterns of injury, patient characteristics, outcome of polytrauma patients admitted to the Emergency hospital of Mansoura University. Research Plan The data collected include: 1-demographics (age,gender,other co-mobid illnesses) 2-physiologic status of the patient 3-Injury data: details of trauma (mode,mechanism, blunt or penetrating etc.) injury patterns collected from trauma chart, imaging studies(CXR,pelvis, LSS, CS, CT brain,CT abdomen,…etc),intraoperative findings.4-Management (modality of treatment , ICU admission and outcome either cure or mortality) hospital LOS, ICU LOS . Results: Young males are the most common individual subjected to polytrauma.RTA is the most common mode of trauma. Trauma to extremities was the most common pattern. Conclusion: Trauma to extremities was the most common pattern.head trauma was the most common cause of death. |
