Abstract Gynecomastia is derived from the Greek terms (gynec) which mean feminine and (mastos) which means breast. The literal translation, male breasts, is related to any condition that results in excessive development of breast tissue in males.Gynecomastia is caused by an increase in the ratio of estrogen to androgen activity. The aim in the management of gynecomastia is to obtain a satisfactory diagnosis, control the patient’s symptoms and treat any visually obvious breast enlargement or deformity. Treatment options vary depending on the cause, the pathophysiology, physical examination, and patients’ desires. Treatment options vary between medical treatment and surgical treatment. Despite the reported successes of medical therapies in some publications, many of the study subjects went on to have surgical treatment, even after partial regression |
