Abstract

On the other hand residual kidney function contributes significantly to the overall health and well-being of dialysis patients. It not only provides small solutes clearance but also plays an important role in maintaining fluid balance, phosphorus control and removal of middle molecular uremic toxins, decline of residual renal function also contributes significantly to anemia, inflamation and malnutrition in patients on dialysis.
Our study aimed to evaluate sleep disorders in haemodialysis patients and the effect of residual renal function on them.
our study was conducted on 80 haemodialysis patients collected from Kafr Elzyat general Hospital dialysis unit, they were divided into two groups; group 1 which included 30 haemodialysis patients with residual kidney function, 43.3% were females and 56.7% were males with mean of age 40.47±13.96(in years), mean of BMI 26.13±3.44(kg/m2), duration of dialysis (in years) 4.38±2.86.
group II which included 50 haemodialysis patients with no residual renal function, 38% were females and 62% were males with mean of age 54.68±9.36(in years), mean of BMI 26.92±4.28(kg/m2) and mean of duration of dialysis (in years) 6.90 ± 3.82
