Abstract This study was conducted at greenhouse experiment at Soil Science Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Menoufia University, Shebin El-Kom, Egypt to study the effect of S additives to the composted organic matter (maize stalks) on the product compost properties at different composting period. Also, the effect of individual and combined additives of compost and sulphur during and after composting periods on: 1- Soil chemical properties as well as the content of available macro- and micronutrients. 2- Plant growth and its content of macro- and micronutrients. 3- Agronomic efficiency of sulphur fertilizer affected by compost applications. In this study, surface soil sample (0- 20 cm) represented newly reclaimed calcareous soils of Egypt were collected from Village 6, Abu El-Matamir, EL-Behara Governorate, Egypt. The collected soil sample was air-dried, ground and good mixed and sieved through a 2 mm sieve. A portion of the prepared fine soil was analyzed for some physical and chemical determinations and its content of available macro- and micronutrients. Organic wastes used in this study were: - a) Maize stalks (MS). Samples of MS were collected, speeded in the open-air conditions for dryness. Then chopped into 2-4 cm segment using rushing machine. |
