Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is the commonest cancer affecting women. A family history of breast cancer increases a woman’s lifetime risk of developing the disease. a woman in the developed world has a lifetime risk of developing breast cancer of approximately 9:11%. In 2009. Aim of the Work: To highlight genetics of breast cancer. To show the different surveillance and management of hereditary breast cancer. Conclusion: It is important to realize that the cancer history of both the maternal and paternal lineage is important. The high-risk breast cancer susceptibility genes include BRCA1, BRCA2, PTEN, TP53, LKB1/STK11and CDH1, with relative lifetime risks higher than 4 (but generally much higher at young ages). The CHEK2, TGF1, CASP8 and ATM genes belong to the low- to moderate-risk breast cancer susceptibility genes.
