Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of the periprocedural administration of GPI with and without thrombectomy in a large Germany PPCI center. The study was conducted at Bad Berka Hospital at the period from March 2011 to December 2013. We performed a retrospective analysis of the data of 172 consecutive patients admitted with STEMI and treated with PCI in Bad Berka Hospital, Germany between 1th January 2009 and 31th December 2011.
In an unselected real-world population undergoing PPCI for STEMI, although TIMI grade 3 flows trended to be higher in the patients who received GPIs the difference did not constitute statistical significance. The use of GPIs was associated with more local complication (hematomas), however major bleeding complication and other clinical end points were equal in both groups.
GPIs derived 6 months survival benefit and improved TIMI flow in patients treated without thrombus aspiration, the reduction of MACE was not statistically significant.
