Abstract

The present work was planned to study the effect of some neoplastic viral disease (MD and AL) on hematological, biochemical and histopathological changes in chickens.
Our study was based on surveys of chicken which likely to be affected with neoplastic diseases. The tumors affecting chickens were obtained from seven layer flocks from three governorates (Dakahlia, Damietta and Alsharqia). A total number of one hundred birds were used. They were classified by using clinical signs, pathological lesions, histopathological findings and PCR into four groups. group (A1) was a normal control for MD. group (A2) was infected with MD. group (B1) was a normal control for AL. group (B2) was infected with AL.
Chickens in all groups were observed and examined clinically and the clinical signs were recorded. All MD and AL infected chickens showed anorexia, depression, ruffled feather, pale anemic comb and wattles, emaciation and decrease egg production. Chickens affected with MD suffered from paralysis of limb, wing and neck, impaired vision, blindness and unable to stand. Avian leukosis affected chickens showed an enlarged bursa of Fabricius and liver on palpation.
Two blood samples were collected from wing veins of the affected chickens. The first sample was collected in a clean tube containing EDTA for hematological examination. The second sample was collected freshly without anticoagulant for separation of serum for biochemical examination. Finally, the.
