Abstract

Numerous pathologies can occur in the popliteal fossa and using a surgical seive, more appropriate differentials can be formulated to avoid delaying patient management. While diagnosis of popliteal fossa pathology can often be diagnosed clinically, non-invasive imaging serve as invaluable adjuncts in making early diagnosis, aiding the development of optimal and timely treatment strategies and the best possible clinical result.
The aim of this article is to review the sonographic appearances of common disorders involving the popliteal fossa .
Improved developments in digital ultrasound technology and the use of high-frequency broadband transducers make ultrasound (US) imaging the first screening tool in investigating superficial tissue lesions.
this work is to highlight the updated role of Doppler ultrasound in the differentiation of popliteal fossa lesions
.
