Abstract This prospective study included forty one patients with early stage breast cancer who had been operated with conservative surgery and referred to Clinical Oncology Department, Tanta University Hospital for adjuvant radiotherapy, from September 2014 to May 2015. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and preliminary toxicity of the 3D-CRT hypofractionated whole breast irradiation schedule with a concomitant boost delivered to the tumor bed in patients with early stage breast cancer submitted to conservative surgery. The shorter fractionation schedule decreases the use of limited physical and financial resources and increases access for those patients with logistical difficulties with subsequent indirect cost. So decreasing the overall treatment time and therefore, the cost/ inconvenience to the patient and radiation oncology department is particularly attractive. |
