Abstract The present work was done to study the effect of certain pollen substitutes on productivity and activity of the honeybee colonies in the end as next season (summer) .Efficacies of three pollen substitutes diet (A, B and C) were tested these stuffs were as follows: Diet (A) : broad bean flour 30%+ sorghum flour 20%+ powdered sugar 50%. Diet (B) : soybean flour 30%+ maize flour 20%+ powdered sugar 50%. Diet (C) : brewer’s yeast 15%+ chickpea flour 15%+ soybean flour 20%+ powdered sugar 50%. In the light of the obtained data, could be concluded that:- Pollen substitutes diet, comprising of brewer’s yeast 15%+ chickpea flour 15%+ Soybean flour 20%+ powdered sugar 50%, was most acceptable, attractiveness and consumption by bees and greatly affected on building the colonies population, increase brood area, stored pollen, honey production and development of hypopharyngeal glands. Best times for feeding honey bee colonies with pollen substitutes, was in autumn, winter and spring seasons which reflected positively on productivity and activity of the colonies in the next active season. |
