Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of bitter orangepulp, leaves, fresh peels, seeds and flowers oil on impaired kidney function of injected rats with gentamicin (garamycin amp). Thirty two mature albino rats weighting 150-160 g B.Wt. each were used, and divided into 8 equal groups, one group was kept as acontrol –vegroup, while the other groups were injected by gentamicin at 10 mg/kg/day Once day for aperiod of 8 days. The used plants were divided into(fruit pulp 5%, peels 5% , seeds 5% , leaves 5% , flower oil 2% and with mixture of (Leaves , seeds, peels, fruit pulp , and flowers oil of bitter orange) 5%(1:1:1:1:1 w/w) from the basel diet. Serum liver function (ALT,AST,ALP, ) Serum antioxidation enzymeactivity (CAT, SOD and GPX), kidney functions (urea , creatinine , uric acid ), lipids profile (total cholesterol , triglycerides , lipoproteins , ”lipoproteins” HDL , LDL , VLDL ”) and histopathological changes of liver & kidney were examined .The obtained results concluding that the feeding with the tested plants improved kidney functions , liver functions and the lipid profile.
