Abstract Obesity is a serious universal health problem that has been extensively reported in recent times and continues to place a burden on the public health system internationally. It is associated with a substantial increase in the risk of morbidity and mortality from chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and a range of cancers. Moreover, obesity becomes a major economic issue of the current age, it is well accepted that obesity is costly to individuals and society in terms of financial costs-life years and quality o life. The present work aimed mainly to : 1-Clarify the adverse effect of diet induced obesity. 2-Examine the effects of dietary regimen with calorie restriction on some metabolic changes. 3-Evaluate the effects of gervital (grape seed extract) either as monotherapy or in combination with CR on modulating metabolic changes in obese rats. 4-Investigate the relationship between metabolic effects of grape seed extract and its effect on hepatic miR-33a and miR-122. |
