Study Summary
Preface:
The theater is the product of society that is influenced by the political, social, cultural, intellectual or economic changes that occur in the society. It is a social phenomenon which reflects the social changes. It always seeks to provide solutions to the society’s problems. Especially, what is submitted under the social upbringing of the society members. The theater is considered the mirror that reflects the reality of society and it works to change and motivate it to the best through the messages provided.
Problem of the study:
The Problem of the study includes the belief in the role of the theater and its importance in society, and his quest to form the conscience and minds of the public, especially young people, the most important categories in society. The researcher noted their exposure to the theater performances of Teatro Masr. As a result, it should be studied to identify the issues performed and how to deal with it. So, the problem research is determined in the main question : ”To what extent are young people aware of the social issues reflected in performances of Teatro Masr Theater.
Importance of the study:
1. The spread of the Teatro Masr theater performances is remarkable, as it is a new experience that is presented to the public, especially young people. So it isnecessary to study what is presented to them, because it contributes in forming their awareness and attitudes towards the issues performed.
2. Testing the role of the Teatro Masr performances. It is possible that the artists and critics may reconsider the methods used in presenting these performances. Also, determining the advantages and disadvantages of this new experiment.
Objectives of the study:
The aim of this study is to identify the relation among a sample of young people to Teatro Masr performances through their awareness of the social issues by identifying the following:
1. The most important social issues propes with by Teatro Masr performances (analytical study sample).
2. Methods of handling of the Teatro Masr performances (analytical study sample) to social issues.
3. Methods of solving the social issues raised by Teatro Masr performances (analytical study sample).
4. Youth exposure rate ( study Sample) for Teatro Masr Performances.
5. Motivation of youth exposure (sample study) for Teatro .Masr Performances
6. The extent to which there is a relationship between the rate of youth’s exposure to Teatro Masr performances and their awareness of social issues.
Study variables:
1. Independent variable: Exposure to the performances Teatro Masr’s theater dealing with social issues.
2. Youth Intermediate variables: The demographic variables of study sample that are represented in (gender - educational level - economic and social level).
3. The dependent variable: the youth’s awareness of social issues as a result of exposure to the Teatro Masr theater’s performances through different media.
Study Procedures:
The study is a descriptive study. The sample survey method was used in both analytical and field analysis.The analytical study was applied to the first and second season of the 41 performances of Teatro Masr experiment. The field study was applied to a random sample of young people who viewed (450) performances of Teatro Masr in a singular basis at the age of(18-25) years.
Results:
- Social issues and diseases came in the first rank with frequency (85) and by (46.4%) from The total number of Teatro Masr performances’ study sample. The intellectual issues came in in the second rank with frequency (50) and by (27.3%).
- Political issues came in the third rank with frequency (29) and(15.8%).Finally, the economic issues came in the fourth rank with frequency(19) and by (10.4%)
- The method of presenting the case of most of Teatro Masr performances ”the analytical study” by crystallizing and supporting it with both words and deeds with frequency (90) and by (49.2) %.
- The case exposure and supporting it with words only came in the second rank with frequency (85) and by (46.4%)
- The case exposure and supporting it with deeds only came in the third rank with frequency (8) and by (4.4%)
- There were statistically significant differences between the youth (males and females) in the intensity of their exposure to Teatro Masr performances for females.
- There were statistically significant differences between youth according to their educational level in the intensity of their exposure to Teatro Masr performances for the intermediate educational level.
- There is a positive correlation between the intensity of the youth exposure to Teatro Egypt theater’s performances and the perception of the content presented at the level of significance (0.01%).
