Abstract
Background, Patients rights are very important because these rights will contribute to more effective patient care and greater satisfaction for patient, health care providers and the hospital. Plus, inter-professional education interventions play an important role in improving Health professions training, continuing education, and continuing professional development of nursing staff. The aim of the study was to evaluate nurse unit mangers’ educational intervention regarding patients’ rights. Setting,The study was conducted at Tanta University Hospitals that included(Main, Emergency and Students Hospitals). Subjects included 100 nurse unit mangers and 170 patients. Tools, Tool I; Structure nurse unit managers’ knowledge sheet regarding patients’ rights. Tool II; Structure Interview Schedule Sheet about Patients’ Perception regarding their Rights.Results, All of nurse unit managers had good level of total knowledge in post educational intervention compared with pre educational intervention.The majority patients had high level of total perception. Conclusion, All nurse unit managers were displaying more knowledge improvement posteducational intervention than pre-educational intervention that related to items of patients rights at Tanta University Hospitals. The majority patients had high level of perception related to their preferences about fulfillment of their rights in the study hospitals. Recommendation, Nurse unit managers should give more attention to instruct the staff nurses to give periodic health education to patients regarding their rights Additionally, placing banners showing patients’ rights and responsibilities in all departments of the hospital.
